Music
Why a separate type of event?
Dust supports adding music based events that are separate from other events at a burn. This came about as DJ sets could dominate a list of events if co-mingled with other events and often people will either be looking for music or looking for an event to participate in. At Burning Man, DJ sets are not listed in the WWW and this comes across in dust for Burning Man and other regional burns.
How to add Music
Visit the link given for your burn. You'll login with your email address (a verification code is emailed to you). You'll see a screen similar to below. Click Register Music
.
Adding a Party
In dust a Party can be a lineup of DJs or a single performance. It is a list of events at a particular location (camp or art) or an art car (roaming). You can add multiple parties and can also return to edit a party to make corrections.
An explanation of each of the fields for a party is listed below.
Party Title
This is typically in one of the following forms:
camp
day
- E.g. "Duck Pond Thursday"theme
- E.g. "Welcome Home", "Distrikt Takeover"camp
stage
- E.g. "Octopussy Chill Dome"art car
location
- E.g. "Myan Warrior - Trash Fence @ 9 oclock", "Xuza @ Man Burn"day
- E.g "Thursday"
Dust already captures the location so this field is best used for additional information. If in doubt just add the day
.
Categories
These are additional checkboxes to help with sorting of music. Check all that are applicable. If you are unsure of "Wheelchair Accessibility" then visit this link to understand if you qualify.
Locations
For events at camps and art this should be self explanatory: Select Camp or Art and start typing the name, it will autocomplete from the list of available registered art and camps (If the location is an unregistered camp/location then you can choose Art Car instead and type the name).
Selecting a location of camp or art is important as it will allow it to be found on the map in dust.
For Art Cars:
- You will enter the name of your art car.
- If you will be parking at a camp or art for a party then you can enter this as part of the party title.
- It is also ok to add the performance (redundantly) at the location of the camp or art.
- If you will be roaming to multiple known locations you can add multiple parties for each known location
- If you will be roaming but may stop interdeterminately use a single party and do NOT put a location in the party title
- If you are acting as a mobile stage for a camp then add the camp name in the party title
- If you are joining an existing stage then add the stage name to the party title (eg Dusty Rhino + Mikki Beach)
Party Owner
This field is optional. You can add additional party owners as email adddresses if you would like other people to be able to edit the party.
DJ / Musician
This field is the name of the DJ or musician only. It is preferable to NOT add genres, locations or any other information in this field.
Timeslots
This field is the day, time and duration of the event / DJ timeslot. Remember that events after midnight are on the following day (ie Thursday nights 1am slot is actually Friday).
Click Add Timeslot
to add more timeslots to the lineup.
Review Process
After making changes to music these are not immediately published in dust: they are reviewed manually to check for accuracy and inappropriate content before publishing.
