Maps
Dust supports many features with maps:
- Uploading an image
- Creating a map image
- Placing camps on the map
- Placing art on the map
- Placing restrooms and other map points
- Making a GPS accurate map
- Clear locations on the map
Uploading a Map
To upload an image of a map:
- Click the Map icon (the location pin) on the home page of the event
- Click

(in the top right corner) - Choose Upload Map Image
- Choose an image file to upload
The map image will be changed and you can now being to place items on the map.
Creating a Map
Dust will automatically create a map image for you if you enter a latitude and longitude when setting the details of your event. If you have not done this then click the Edit icon on the home page and scroll down and set these.
Tip - You can use Google Maps and find the center of your event, right click and click on the latitude and longitude in the popup menu. Then paste into dust.
To create a custom map from satellite:
- Click the Map icon (the location pin) on the home page of the event
- Click

(in the top right corner) - Choose Generate Map
- Choose from
Outdoors
,Satellite
,Full
,Street
,Light
orDark
to set the style of map - Choose the zoom level
- Click
Create
to generate a satellite map (center on the lat/long of the event)
Placing Camps
You can place camp on the map by:
- Click the Camps icon on the home page of the event
- Choose the camp you want to place (a Pin icon is shown next to any camps that are placed already)
- Click the Place button
- Click the place on the map you want the camp to be
- Click the Save button in the top right corner
- Click Save again to return to the camps list page
Placing Art
You can place camp on the map by:
- Click the Art icon on the home page of the event
- Choose the art you want to place (a Pin icon is shown next to any art that are placed already)
- Click the Place button
- Click the place on the map you want the art to be
- Click the Save button in the top right corner
- Click Save again to return to the art listing page
Placing Restrooms and Other Pins
- Click the Map icon on the home page of the event
- Click the drop down on the toolbar (Restroom) and choose between
Restroom
,Gate
,Greeter Station
,Ice
,Medical Station
orGPS
- Click anywhere on the map to place that type of pin
You can delete a pin by clicking on it and clicking the Delete button
Make sure to click Save in the top right corner to save your changes.
Make a Map GPS Accurate
The dust app will show points on the map, but if you would like to show where the person is on the map and show distances to camps, events and art then you need to make the map GPS accurate.
- Click the Map icon on the home page of the event
- Click the drop down on the toolbar and choose
GPS
- Place the GPS pin on a spot where you know the latitude and longitude
- Click on the pin and enter the latitude and longitude
- Repeat these steps until you have 3 GPS pins on the map
Its a good idea to place the 3 pins a good distance from each other. Dust will use these 3 GPS pins to triangulate where the app user is on the map.
Clear Map Locations
You can delete the locations of all camps, art or other locations (restrooms etc):
- Click the Map icon (the location pin) on the home page of the event
- Click

(in the top right corner) - Choose Clear Camp Locations to delete the locations of all placed theme camps.
- Choose Clear Art Locations to delete the locations of all placed art.
- Choose Clear Other Locations to delete the locations of all restrooms, etc.
